If
you don’t know, Previews
is the catalog that Diamond Comic Distributors use to offer the
products they distribute to comic book stores around the country.
This is where you can view and order (through your favorite Local
Comic Book Shop) comic books, trade paperback collections, t-shirts,
books, media, and toys and other collectibles from hundreds of
different vendors that deal in geek-oriented merchandise. The genius
part is that you actually have to pay for your copy of Previews
for the privilege of ordering other things to pay for.
It’s
like the Ren Fest except without the horse poo smell.
So
every month a new edition of Previews
is sent out to comic book stores. Contained in the pages within are
products that might be currently available or could be released
anytime in the next year; but are typically about two months away.
Most of this month’s offerings are scheduled to ship in August.
Now
it’s time to discuss a few of the weird and/or wonderful items
offered in this month’s edition!
I
don’t like it, but I hope it doesn’t make too much of a
difference. The biggest differences are that the online version
doesn’t have page numbers and that everything is in alphabetical
order. Sort of.
Dark
Knights: Metal – DC Comics (Front Cover)
I
still don’t totally know what this event is all about, but as I
keep mentioning, DC has so much good will with me right now that I’m
not only in, but am excited!
You
may recall that I got a little tired of the dynamic duo of Snyder and
Capullo on their Batman run, but I am totally ready for their take on
the larger DC Universe. Especially since so much of the art I’ve
seen makes it look like a modern version of Total Justice. I don’t
know what in the world Snyder means when he talks about dark matter
and underlying universes and whatever as far as the context of this
story, but I am eager to find out.
The
Nightmare Before Christmas Select Action Figures – Diamond Select
Toys (Back Cover)
I
have a few of these thanks to my inability to resist creepy new toy
lines. They look phenomenal – easily the best-looking NBC figures
ever – but are a little on the fragile side. The leg on my Jack
fell off basically from me touching it.
That
being said, DST does a great job with their lines as far as character
assortment and variety go. I fully expect to see the best
representation of this movie’s cast out of this line. You’ll
notice Diamond kills it with the accessories, as well. I love seeing
Zero’s house, Jack’s chalkboard, and the little gift.
Hellboy
and the BPRD 1955: Secret Nature One-Shot – Dark Horse (?)
I’ve
been loving these stories from Hellboy’s past. I’ve been talking
about catching up on the comics for years now and keep forgetting to
order the trades. But these trips to the past have been a thoroughly
engaging substitute. They’re always grounded in a specific year,
though the story might be a one-shot, two issues, or a miniseries. I
love that the format is dependent on the narrative and not vice
versa.
Hellboy
in Hell Library Edition HC – Dark Horse (?)
Ordering
this might be putting the cart before the horse since it’s the
conclusion of Mignola’s epic Hellboy story, but I do intend to read
everything at some point and it would be nice to have this edition
already on the shelf waiting for me. I’d say it would even be a
motivator to get going on the older stuff, but the massive stack of
unread collected editions in the Phantom Zone would suggest
otherwise.
Shaolin
Cowboy: Who’ll Stop the Reign HC – Dark Horse (?)
This
collects the recent miniseries. I absolutely love Geoff Darrow’s
art (who doesn’t?), but I skipped the individual issues in
anticipation of the collection. I don’t know if that makes me a
shitty comic book fan, but sometimes you just have to prioritize
things. Besides, I told you guys to buy it. Doesn’t that count for
something?
The
Terminator: The Original Comics Series – Dark Horse (?)
I
wasn’t the best at keeping up with all of the licensed stuff that
Dark Horse published back in the day, and to be honest the
Terminator franchise isn’t one of my favorites. But when I see John
Arcudi, Chris Warner, James Robinson, and Matt Wagner’s names on a
book, I’m gonna buy it.
American
Gods Crocodile Bar Shot Glass Set – Dark Horse (?)
From
the hit new Starz show that I still can’t quite decide if I truly
like or not, here’s some booze accessories!
More
on American
Gods later,
but for now I’ll just say that regardless of anything else, the
Crocodile Bar was an incredible set and I want to drink there. With
Ian McShane, who is the biggest reason I’m still watching the show.
Update: I'm caught up now, and Emily Browning has made the show ten times better.
American
Gods Crocodile Bar Pint Glass Set – Dark Horse (?)
Also
available in pint size! Which in this instance means larger! Weird.
Archie
VS. Predator HC – Dark Horse (?)
Our
pal RT Ewell reviewed
the first two issues
of this wacky series before going on permanent hiatus and starting
his
own wrestling podcast,
and he liked it. I read the first issue and determined it wasn’t
for me, but if you like Archie and you like Predator, maybe it’s
worth twenty bucks for you to check this out.
DEPT.
H HC Vol. 1 – Dark Horse (?)
The
covers for this series always catch my eye. Not to mention my
enjoyment of the punny “DEPT.H” (“depth”, get it?) title on a
comic that takes place undersea. I’m a sucker for terror and
intrigue under the seas, so I feel like I should check this out. I
don’t know too much about Matt Kindt, but he seems “critically
acclaimed” in all the right places.
Game
of Thrones Ceramic Steins – Dark Horse (?)
The
simple designs of these appeals to me. House Stark’s stein is
pictured here, but Dark Horse is producing steins, coffee mugs, pint
and shot glasses for each family. I could use a good stein, but
without knowing what capacity of adult beverage it can hold I’m not
ordering one. I need at least 24 ounces.
Okay,
so I Googled “Game of Thrones Stein” to try and find out the
volume on these things and I discovered that there are way
more badass containers out there.
The
Visitor: How and Why He Stayed TP – Dark Horse (?)
This
is a perfect example of why I sometimes wait for trades. I have the
first three issues of this sitting at home and haven’t touched them
yet. I might as well have waited for this.
Mister
Miracle #1 (of 12) – DC Comics (?)
You
guys know that I don’t put on airs or anything, so I don’t have
any problem telling you that my knowledge of Jack Kirby’s New Gods
is pretty much limited to what’s been on cartoons and Grant
Morrison’s work from a few years ago (and Mike Allred’s current
Bug!
Comic). I’m very interested in the concepts, but as I like to say,
there’s only so much time to do everything.
This
new Mister Miracle comic is by Tom King, whose Batman stuff I am
loving, so I’ll be making time for it. This miniseries is launching
alongside a number of one-shots celebrating Jack Kirby’s
contributions to DC Comics.
Black
Racer & Shilo Norman Special #1 – DC (?)
Speaking
of tributes to Kirby, this is the first. You’d have to ask our Head
of Research, Schweck, about Black Racer and Shilo Norman, but I’ll
tell you that the names Reginald Hudlin, Denys Cowan, and Bill
Sienkewicz are the ones that have me adding this to my order form. I
do wonder if this Mister Miracle has anything to do with the story in
the Tom King miniseries.
Darkseid
Special #1 – DC (?)
If
I had to guess which of the Kirby tribute specials was going to be
the biggest seller, I’d choose this one. Everyone
is familiar with Darkseid. I bet my mom could even pick him out of a
lineup. Faster than she could Thanos, anyway.
Manhunter
Special #1 – DC (?)
Intellectually
I am aware of the differences between the various DCU Manhunters –
the Green Lantern variety, the Kate Spencer version (my favorite),
and the Martian one. Are there more? I dunno. I knew the Spencer
version was a legacy character but I didn’t really know the roots
of the Manhunter mantle. It’s all a little confusing.
New
Gods Special #1 – DC (?)
Just
reading about the plot of this book makes me want more of the Fourth
World. It sounds like Kirby built something truly incredible that’s
worthy of a modern revival, but only if done by the most skilled
creators working today. It couldn’t be left to the wrong people.
Newsboy
Legion & Boy Commendos Special #1 – DC (?)
I
mention this only because it’s part of the Kirby tributes. Well,
also because it’s by Howard Chaykin. But I’ve got to be honest
and say that neither of the concepts here interest me at all. That’s
not to say they aren’t good or the book won’t be amazing, it’s
just not my bag.
Sandman
Special #1 – DC (?)
Sandman,
Brute, and Glob might confuse me even more than the Manhunter thing.
When I see those names, all I think of are Neil Gaiman’s versions.
Maybe as an afterthought the JSA’s Sandman. I need an instructional
manual to tie all of this together. Or maybe just some time to sit
and read Wikipedia.
Nightwing:
The New Order #1 – DC (?)
Fascism
is a hot commodity right now, and DC Comics isn’t immune to a
little bandwagon action. Nor should they be. This business is about
making money, after all. The key point of interest here is the
creative team. DC didn’t just throw a couple of green jabronis on a
book; this is from the superstar team of Kyle Higgins and Trevor
McCarthy, both of whom have proven to be skilled storytellers.
Higgins has produced some excellent Dick Grayson stories and McCarthy
won me over with his excellent work on Gates
of Gotham
and Batwoman.
I’m truly excited to see where this Elseworlds-esque story goes!
All
Star Batman Vol. 2: Ends of the Earth HC – DC (?)
I
didn’t enjoy this story as much as I did the first All
Star
arc, but I still found it to be quite good and a memorable Batman
tale.
Batman
& Robin by Tomasi & Gleason Omnibus HC – DC (?)
This
was one of the few New 52 titles that I found worthwhile and stuck
with the whole time. Granted, is was barely altered by the reboot
nonsense, but Tomasi and Gleason told some absolutely fantastic
stories about Bruce and Damian.
Batman
‘66 Meets Wonder Woman ‘77 – DC (?)
Another
case where I waited for the collection. I’m very curious to see how
the timeline is addressed and if Batman is portrayed as an old man.
Batman/Flash:
The Button Deluxe HC – DC (?)
The
mystery set up in DC
Rebirth #1 is
fascinating to me. I want to know what’s going on and how the
Minute Men will fit in. I’m also good with how DC has been giving
out the story in little pieces over time and
with how this was a mini crossover involving two titles rather than a
line-wide behemoth.
The
first issue – Batman
21 – was an excellent opener. There were several big moments that
felt like they had been built up to. Flash
21 didn’t feel as rewarding, partly because it turns out I am not a
fan of Howard Porter’s art. I won’t call it bad, but it just
isn’t to my tastes. I haven’t read the final two issues yet, but
the first two were uneven at best. I hope the 22s get me back on
board.
Batman:
Year One Deluxe HC – DC (?)
I
discovered this around the same time as The
Dark Knight Returns
and immediately preferred it. It’s a legendary Batman story and
should be required reading for any comic book or Batman fan. I own a
trade collection, but this seems like a worthy upgrade.
Harley
Quinn: A Celebration of 25 Years HC – DC (?)
Well,
you know I’m buying this. I do wish there was a better description,
but I trust DC to deliver a worthy tribute to one of their most
popular characters.
Jack
Kirby’s Fourth World Omnibus HC – DC (?)
Just
in time for Christmas! With an in-store date of December 6th,
this $150 tome collects all of Kirby’s New Gods material. All of
the cool kids will find it under their trees (or wherever your
seasonal gifts may show up) and I hope I’m one of them!
Jack
Kirby’s Mister Miracle TP – DC (?)
Here’s
a much more affordable opportunity to catch up on some of Kirby’s
classic work. I love the little I’ve seen of the Mister Miracle
character and can justify putting this on the order form. I LOVE this
cover art – just look at the expression on Miracle’s mug!
Superman
Rebirth Deluxe HC Book 01 – DC (?)
Everything
I’ve read about both Superman
and Action
Comics
since Rebirth started sounds awesome. I feel like every time I have
gotten excited about a Superman book DC has lost their way, but I’m
hopeful that I can catch up on this one and that the creative teams
will maintain their compelling direction.
Mage:
Hero Denied #1 - Image (?)
Mage
is Matt Wagner’s classic creator-owned comic. I read it back when
the first series came out and I have the excellent Graphitti action
figure, but I honestly can’t remember too much about it. Time to
brush up, I guess. According to the solicit Image will be releasing
new printings of the older series, which was a smart thing to
mention. The first one was actually offered last month. And they’re
both offered this month.
Sexcastle
TP - Image (?)
I
think I’ve told you people to buy this a bunch of times already,
but just in case you missed it – BUY THIS. Or pretty much anything
with Kyle Starks’ name on it.
Tim
Seeley’s Action Figure Collection Vol. 1 TP - Image (?)
I’ve
been a fan of Time Seeley’s work for years and I tend to like him
best when he’s doing his own thing. I remember some of these titles
from when they were solicited and I have no idea why I didn’t buy
them then. But for thirteen bucks I’ll gladly pick up a collection
of the guy’s weirdest creations.
Marvel
Generations - Marvel (Cover, M?)
Man,
I hate being such a dick about Marvel all the time, but so much of
what they’re doing is so off-putting to me lately. These books are
an example of that, as they just feel off to me. I can’t explain
exactly what seems wrong with them, but the biggest offender to me is
the Phoenix one. Rachel Grey is one of my favorites and she, for some
reason, has just been cast aside in favor of Bendis’ young Jean
from the past. I never particularly wanted any
Jean Grey back, as the Dark Phoenix Saga is so
powerful and good and it’s a tragic arc for a great character.
None
of these books have any real appeal for me, mostly because they don’t
seem to be set to have any impact on the existing Marvel Universe.
Star
Wars Jedi of the Republic: Mace Windu #1 - Marvel (?)
Whether
you like the Prequel era or not, I think you have to admit that
further tales of the Jedi of the era is an exciting concept.
Especially when this Jesus Saiz cover calls to mind one of the most
mind-blowing scenes from Genndy Tartakovsky’s Clone
Wars
cartoons. Marvel has been killing it with almost all of their Star
Wars titles, so I’m in for this one. Also, note Denys Cowan on art
duties!
Star
Wars Rogue One: Kassian & K2S0 Special - Marvel (?)
Some
people don’t like it when the backgrounds of our favorite Star Wars
characters get revealed. I am not one of those people. I am an
Expanded Universe fan from before the term was even being used, so I
want exhaustive narratives on every character who got more than .8
seconds of screen time. And I definitely
want to
know how these two hooked up.
For
their part Marvel is offering twelve different one dollar reprint
comics to celebrate Jack “King” Kirby’s 100th
birthday. I was going to list them, but it turns out they’re not
just simple reprints but collections of specific stories. The online
version of Previews
doesn’t list page counts, but I’d say for a buck each I’m
buying every single one of these. It looks like most of the
characters associated with Kirby’s Marvel work are represented here
and I loves me a good ol’ themed smorgasbord.
X-Men
Classic Omnibus HC - Marvel (?)
If
you’ve been wanting to delve into one of the greatest eras of the
X-Men – the 70s – I highly recommend that this is the way to do
it. In a slightly confusing format, Classic
X-Men
was a comic book that reprinted old issues of Uncanny
X-Men,
but with backup material that looked a little deeper into the lives
of the characters. These backup stories enriched an already heavily
character-based saga and provided even more support material for the
80s X-Men stories.
Catalyst
Prime: Incidentals #1 – Lion Forge (?)
I’m
very interested in this new superhero universe coming from Lion
Forge, mainly because of the creative talents involved, but also
because the publisher did such an excellent job with their Madballs
comics. I know that’s a weird connection to make, but the fact that
they got the tone so perfect and put all the right people on the book
gives me confidence that they know what they’re doing here.
Madballs
could have been a lame afterthought, but it was a perfect love letter
to the franchise.
Galaktikon
#1 – Albatross Funnybooks (?)
“From
Brendon Small, the man who brought you Dethklok and Metalocalypse,
comes a high stakes intergalactic extreme rock comic. Based on his
album, Galaktikon, we follow Triton, intergalactic hero of the
universe, who will face the ultimate outer space struggle: getting
over his divorce.”
I
don’t love Metalocalypse,
but I think it’s more from a lack of exposure than from any real
issues with the content. This, however, sounds undoubtedly awesome.
And that cover is phenomenal. I hope the interior art lives up to the
promise.
Henry
and Glenn Forever and Ever HC – Microcosm Publishing (?)
One
of these is sitting around the Phantom Zone somewhere. I can’t
remember what format it is – I want to say a small book or
something rather than a comic. I honestly can’t remember much about
it, so it’s entirely possible it’s in the “need to read”
stack. Whatever the case, this concept is so amusing that I’ll be
buying this collection for sure.
The
Tick (2017) – New England Comics (?)
The
Tick returns to comics! Written by the prolific Cullen Bunn and
illustrated by JimmyZ Johnston, this coincides with Amazon’s The
Tick TV
show, but isn’t an adaptation or anything. As far as I can tell.
The
Movie Art of Syd Mead: Visual Futurist – Titan Books (?)
Titan
Books is really impressing me with their selections of higher-end art
books. I’ll admit that I had to look the name Syd Mead up, but it
rang a bell enough that I was compelled to. Mead provided concept art
for some of the coolest science fiction movies of our era – Star
Trek: The Motion Picture
(say what you will about the plot, but the movie was beautiful),
Blade
Runner,
Aliens,
Short
Circuit
(he designed Johnny 5), Strange
Days,
Johnny
Mnemonic,
and more. This is exactly the kind of book I love to have on the
shelf to pull down and show to people.
Ian
Livingstone’s Freeway Fighter #4 – Titan Books (?)
One
of the problems with doing this via the
Previews website
is that it’s a little harder to notice things in the huge blocks of
thumbnails, especially since for some reason titles aren’t divided
up by publishers. They’re sectioned, but I can’t figure out the
method.
My
point here is that I almost missed a fantastic cover for an
intriguing comic. Freeway
Fighter
is already up to issue 4, so either the prior covers were
underwhelming or I just didn’t catch them, which is entirely
possible given the sheer volume of periodicals offered in a standard
issue of Previews.
This
cover caught my eye, but the concept seems decidedly Mad
Max,
which is interesting to me. I’m not familiar with the related
series of game books. Honestly, I’m not even sure what a “game
book” is. I assume it’s something along the lines of the old TMNT
role playing game, maybe?
Anyway,
this looks cool and I wanted to mention it. I’ll have to try to
remember to look out for a collected edition.
Side
Note: The other problem is that all of the pervy pedomanga is
scattered throughout the regular books, so it’s impossible to
quickly skip over it like you can with the physical book. Ugh.
It’s
Alive!: Classic Horror and Sci-Fi Movie Posters – Rizzoli (?)
“From
the Kirk Hammett Collection” is the key phrase here.
The
Metallica guitarist is known for having one of the most awesome
collections of horror and sci-fi memorabilia in the world (you can do
that sort of thing when you’re a gazillionaire). This volume
features a selection of some of the coolest posters he’s
accumulated over the years. Sounds like a can’t-miss book to me.
Jim
Shooter: Conversations – University Press of Mississippi (?)
You
might be aware that I have a mild obsession with Jim Shooter. I am
fascinated by the stories of his work ethic, high standards, and
creative ingenuity. I discovered his
blog
years ago and devoured every entry. His stories of working at DC and
Marvel, the differences between them, and his eventual somewhat ugly
ejection from Marvel, despite overseeing one of the publisher’s
most financially and creatively successful eras. In my view, Shooter
is a misunderstood genius.
Side
Note: I am very excited and nervous about the possibility of meeting
Shooter at Heroes Con in a couple of weeks. More on that in a future
post.
Justice
League T-Shirt – Graphitti Designs (?)
This
is a boring damn t-shirt. It’s the sort of thing studios usually
produce as promotional giveaways for advance screenings. Who is
paying twenty bucks for this? There are more boring DC movie shirts,
but I’m not going to bother mentioning the rest. If you play along
at home with your own copy of Previews,
you’ll see them.
Infinity
Gems T-Shirt (?)
Speaking
of boring, this is a list. Not one ounce of creativity went into
designing this thing. I thought of five better ways to represent this
information while I was typing the first sentence of this paragraph.
Spider-Gwen
T-Shirt (?)
Okay,
now this is a cool shirt. The colors pop – super 80s-looking - and
the design is neat. I wouldn’t buy it, but I’d wear it.
Adventure
Time Metal T-Shirt (?)
I
am always down for a good homage to the album cover for Iron Maiden’s
classic single The
Trooper.
Batman
by Mignola T-Shirt (?)
The
world can use more shirts with Mike Mignola artwork on them. I like
that the shirt is blue. Heck, now that I’m looking at it more, I
think I might actually order one. Because I need more t-shirts.
Side
Note: I do not need more t-shirts.
Cobra
Commander T-Shirt - Idiots (?)
This
doesn’t make any goshdarn sense. Nobody on this freaking planet
relates camouflage to Cobra Commander. This is one of the dumbest
color choices I have ever seen. And that logo looks like some
bootleg-ass Panama Beach bullshit, like you’d go into a shop and
pick an iron on that some goober designed based solely off of the
fact that they know “Cobra Commander” is a thing that exists and
no other information. Never mind the fact that it’s printed in
white, which makes even less sense than the camo.
Okay,
nothing
makes less sense than the camo.
This
is one of the worst shirts I have ever seen and I hope it burns in
Hell.
GI
Joe T-Shirt – The Forecast Agency (?)
This shirt, on the other hand, actually makes sense. As a matter of fact, I like it quite
a bit because the camo reminds me of Dusty, one of my favorite Joes,
and isn’t an overused pattern. But just knowing that the same
company made that stupid fucking Cobra Commander shirt makes me want
to not buy this one.
And
knowing is half the battle.
He-Man
vs. Skeletor T-Shirt – Freeze CMI (?)
I
like this one, too. It’s way better than the one from a few months
ago where you couldn’t even tell what the design was. If they were
in their Battle Armor© I would totally order one of these.
MST3K
Abstract Ship T-Shirt - Changes (?)
After
a couple of duds, the Previews
apparel section is on fire this month! I love this Van Gogh-esque
design. MST3K is one of those properties where it’s pretty easy to
dip into “too geeky” territory, but this shirt hits just the
right tone. The addition of (presumably) Jonah and the robots at the
bottom is a nice touch.
I
dunno. Maybe that looks more like Mike.
Star
Trek Command T-Shirt – Freeze CMI (?)
I
already own one of these from a different vendor, but it’s getting
old and the yellow has always seemed slightly off-spec to me. I
always wear it on the first day of a trip, so it might be time to
grab a replacement.
The
Tick “SPOON!” T-Shirt – New England Comics (?)
Classic!
I love how many of this month’s shirts are on colors other than
black and white.
Mr.
Potato Head Alien Xenomorph – PPW Toys (?)
Well,
this is more unexpected than the Spanish Inquisition.
I’ve
noticed a much larger variety of geeky Mr. Potato Heads lately, but
until now I hadn’t realized that someone other than Hasbro was
producing them. I have to say that it feels like this one has gone a
little too far beyond the Potato Head aesthetic. It’s basically
just a fat Alien.
Granted,
that’s appealing in its own way.
Elvira
Vegas or Bust Maquette – Tweeterhead (?)
Our
pal Johnny Danger just ruined his shorts.
Putting
aside the fact that I loathe the company name “Tweeterhead”, this
is an awesome design, somewhat loosely lifted from Elvira’s movie,
Mistress
of the Dark.
That being the case, unless there’s a motor inside to spin the
tassels on those pasties, I’m going to pass.
I
am obviously not clicking on that while I’m at work, so I’ll do
my best to remember to check later and see if said motor exists. I’m
betting not, though.
Batman
’66 Batmobile – Funko (?)
Funko’s
Batman ’66 toy line looks fantastic. I hate to start another
one when I already love Figures, Inc.’s so much, but Figures isn’t
going to be doing a ’66 Batmobile any time soon (as far as I know).
And that Batmobile is a critical component. I’m on the fence here.
If you see a review of this in a couple of months, you’ll know
where I landed.
Metroid
Prime 3 Samus Aran Figma – Good Smile Company (?)
Metroid
is one of my favorite video game franchises and I want a good Samus
figure badly, but I don’t particularly want to pay a hundred bucks
for a six inch figure.
One:12
Collective Wolverine Action Figure - Mezco (?)
Wolverine
is one of my all-time favorite comic book characters. After getting
my first One:12 action figures, I would have thought it inconceivable
that I wouldn’t want a One:12 Wolverine. But those shorts look so
dumb.
Maybe they’ll look better in person. I don’t know what I’m
gonna do here because the only way to see one in person is to order
it. And I don’t want to miss out if they do look fine.
There’s
another version that has a much better costume design, but it’s the
grey and black X-Force costume. I love that look, but it’s not what
I want for a default Wolverine figure.
DC
Superfriends Retro Action Figures Series 3 – Figures Toy Company
(?)
These
guys continue knocking it out of the park with these Superfriends
Mego-style figures. I love the head sculpts and the fabric costumes
are capturing the colors and designs of the cartoons nicely. If I had
all of the money, I would absolutely be collecting these.
Ghoulsville
Vac-Tastic Masks – Retro-A-Go-Go! (?)
The
second wave of gorgeous, oversized masks from Retro-A-Go-Go! and Doug
P’Gosh! Me and the missus have plans to order a number of these
from both waves, but I don’t trust Diamond to ship them unharmed.
I’ll be ordering directly from Retro-A-Go-Go!
A
Nightmare on Elm Street 3 Freddy Puppet Prop Replica - NECA (?)
Dream
Warriors is
my favorite installment in the Nightmare
series and this puppet terrified me when I was younger. I’m
thrilled that NECA is making this, but I’m not sure I believe that
Previews’
$31 price tag can be accurate. This is an 18” tall prop replica, so
I was expecting to pay around twice that. We’ll see. Either way,
this is going in the Phantom Zone.
Unaffiliated
Thoughts
I
just found out about Arkham
Insurgency
from my son, who is now nine years old and far more knowledgeable
about video games than I am. It’s a video game that is a follow-up
to Arkham
Origins.
I found out about this because during one of our many philosophical
discussions about the Arkham
video game series I told my son that I’d be okay with the same team
that produced Origins
making a sequel because they had probably learned from their mistakes
(of which there were many) and at least it would mean a new Arkham
game.
Origins
has tons of problems, but it’s still better than most games I’ve
played in my life. It’s just nowhere near as good as the other
Arkham
games, which were made by a different development team.
This
sent Phantom, Jr. on an internet quest to find out if anything new
was coming from Rocksteady or Rocksteady Montreal, Arkham
or not. He discovered Insurgency
and now we’re both excitedly awaiting E3 to see if there’s a big
reveal.
